there is hope in Jesus

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son [on the cross], that whoever believes in Him should not perish [in hell], but have everlasting life [in heaven]. Gospel of John 3:16

Meet Pastor Dean Sanford and Ruth

After getting a master’s degree in biblical studies at Maranatha Baptist Seminary, Twin Valley Free Will Baptist Church opened their doors to us, eventually licensed, ordained, and sent me out to preach. I look back with great appreciation to the congregation and their pastor.

The Lord gave me over 10 years of opportunity to shepherd a congregation at the First Free Will Baptist Church of Comstock. There were wonder “glory” days and then there were “difficult” days. Looking back, I think God was training me more than the congregation—all the while I thought I was training and teaching others. The reality is that I am still in training and will be in training the rest of my life.

Now, the Lord has opened the door to minister to the Plainwell community. He has given us great experiences this past year with the community and church. We look forward to seeing even more of what God has for all of us in the future!

Join Us on Sundays

We Welcome New Visitors

We welcome first time visitors to our church. If you arrive Sunday at 10 am you will be able to participate in our Bible study.

If you arrive Sunday at 11 am you will be able to participate in our church service. Our church service includes singing hymns accompanied by a piano. A Bible message is part of the service.

All ages are welcome. At present, we do not have a staffed nursery, but we love to have nursery age present, under a parents care, in our Bible study or church service. We do have a nursery room if you need to use it.

Ministry for the Whole Family

We also have elementary age Bible study and singing offered during our church service. Or, the elementary age child may sit with the parents in the adult Bible study and/or the church service. Our pastor prefers the latter.

We have high regard for our teens and collage age young people and delight to have them with us in our adult Bible studies and/or church services.

All in all, we are family oriented and find great value in keeping the family together as much as is possible in our church ministry.

A Message From Our Pastor

Our local church is a fellowship of believers—the body of Christ. When you arrive here, expect to hear direct preaching from God’s Word. However, church is more than a place to hear preaching.

Church is where you and I become a part of the action in a tangible way! We gather together with a mission—a divine purpose.

Each of us needs to be saved, established in the faith, and then equipped to serve. God gives each believer different abilities and then opportunities to actively use those abilities in His work.

We are called, not only to know the path of salvation ourselves, but also called to be witnesses to others. We are called to serve the Lord together through the ministry of the local church.

Come and see for yourself. I look forward to meeting you.
